Shriner Circus

I know not all Humzooers are in the Springifeld, IL area, but there's a large number of us. Did anyone else make it out to see the circus this weekend?

We had some tickets given to us on Friday and since we had nothing much to do Saturday we decided to go to the 3:00 show. I don't have kids, but I was still pretty excited to go. I hadn't been to a circus in 20 years. I didn't really go into it with high expectations. I don't know why, but I just didn't expect it to be as big as the circus I saw as a kid. I was completely impressed though!

It was actually the Royal Hanneford Circus, but it was put on by the Shriners. They had everything... Trapeze artists, Dancing bears, performing elephants. I'm not sure where all the circus travels to, but if it's ever in your area I highly recommend seeing it. You really can't beat it for the price, and it goes to a really good cause.

4) Though I like the Shriner's organization, I don't support the circus...it's an animal thing. Now that Cirque de Soleil, I'm OK with that! Hope everyone that went had a good time.

5) Bek, were you approached and asked to donate tickets or is that something you contacted the Shriners about doing? I'd love to be able to do that next year. I loved seeing all of those kids have such a good time.

6) The actually called our house and asked us if we would like to buy any tickets. I said we could not go and then they said we could buy two tickets and they would be given to a kids. My husband said Shriners is really the only thing he liked donating to. He has a long line of family members in Shriners

7) I'm going to have to look in to that next year. I'd like to be able to help out a few kids that wouldn't normally get to go.

Given the family history, is it possible Will might become a shriner? I know they do great things for the community, but they are also very good to their members (not sure that's the right term) when they need a helping hand .
