Basically it's a camera crane. I built this using mostly found objects from around the garage, with the exception of the weights (thanks Steve) and some nuts and bolts (thanks Dad).
While the footage is not perfect, it's wonderful for a first test. A camera crane isn't really something you just pick up and do perfect right away anyway. There is also a plugin I can use in Final Cut to smooth the footage, and it works quite well. But all this footage here is 100% real and has not been altered in any way except for slight sharpening.
