Thursday afternoon update

Hey, everybody,

We appreciate your words of encouragement so much!

The news today is that the cardiothoracic surgeon said, due to improvements in Mom's X-ray, she will not need the decortication surgery that would have removed infected "gunk" from around her left lung. If the "gunk" (basically pus) affects less than one-third of the space around her lung (pleural space), then they do not perform this surgery. Fortunately, right now Mom does not need this surgery, which is a big relief.

Her respiratory status and ventilator settings remain unchanged. Her fever has come down about one degree to 100.0, but her white blood cell count is up. I have not had a chance to speak with her main doctor today, but I would say that she is about the same. Mom is continuing to maintain good blood pressures without assistance from norepinephrine.

We are enjoying hanging out with, Cabell, Janet & Nancy (aka the Sludge Sisters), and Bob.

Congratulations Steve and Nancy on your 37th wedding anniversary!!!!
