Am I the only weird one?

I was reading a political article with some quotes from John McCain. He was talking about how he had been behind in the polls and how he he feels good about the campaign that he ran. At that moment, I started feeling really sad for the candidate that will lose the race. (either one) I don't know why I feel bad for the loser, but I sure wish that we were able to have both of them win.

1) Jenn - I hear you - I was just having this discussion with my husband - they are both admirable men - I was also saying that I wondered what George Bush was feeling tonight - considering he is the figurehead of the republican party - and his legacy will be one of downturn for America - he must be ready to go live in his ranch in Texas and get out of the spotlight.

2) I actually feel bad also. Think about the time and energy both men (and many, many others) have put into these campaigns. I'd feel as if that time was wasted if I lost...but maybe that's just my competitive streak. I can't watch the video of the McCain rally anymore. At first it was slightly entertaining/interesting, but now it's just incredibly sad.

3) Jenn, I feel like that all the time, and not just with elections. Even when my all time favorite team (you know, the Pistons!!) would win an NBA Championship, I'd always feel sad for the other team. Maybe it's a "chick thing"?

4) Hey, I am a Cubs fan so........there is always next time.

Actually, I dont feel sorry for any of the losers. To be honest with you, anyone wanting to be president has a have a fricking HUGE ego. And guess what, tough. McCain ran an incompetent campaign and frankly it ticks me off. So far, this race is a lot closer than i thought it was going to be. If McCain ran a decent campaign, he could have won.

5) Jules, I'm right there with you about the sports teams but I'm usually the one going for the underdog...

Jenn, I feel bad, too, but more so for the supporters of the other candidate, unless it's the candidate I want to win then I'd be sad for him, too. :(.

6) I never thought about the ego required to run for pres. It has to be so depressing at the McCain camp right now...with every little blue state that appears on the board...

7) As much as I did not want McC to win, I do feel bad for him. I mean, although I disagree with his philosophies, I know that what he really wants to do is to serve his country. And he will not get another chance. I do feel bad for him.

8) I guess I am alot like RickMonday - I am not sad - more pissed then anything because he did run an incompetent campaign - he had the ability to win this election and he made some really bad choices that cost him. Tough.

9) We make choices and have to pay for the consequences. I do believe that Mc Cain wanted to serve his country, and yes politicians have to have tremendous ego's but many people supported McCain and I hope they can now put their trust in our President-elect. I believe that McCain's choice for VP is what really headed him down the path of defeat.

10) I agree, Dannie. The right running mate would have made it a lot closer.
