The honeymoon is over......

Boz and I just went to lunch - it was one of those wonderful rare experiences. A time when he is awake during the day. I have really enjoyed the last week. He has been home every night and he has been helping out around the house during the day because he is actually awake.

It has been wonderful to go to bed at the same time as my husband. Those of you that have never worked opposite shifts as your significant other - you have no clue how blissful it can be just to actually get to sleep all night long with the love of your life.

But - that is all over - just one week was all we got - he is going back to nights because someone on another shift was an idiot and got released from duty. He has to go fill in and train someone. Hopefully it will not be a permenant thing.

But when he told me I was in shock and once it sank in - I was almost in tears.

1) Aww Meggy that sucks (you know what, lol). I'm really sorry this happened. Hoping the night shift won't last very long.

3) Carrie worked nights for the first year she was an RN. Luckily though it was only 2 or 3 shifts in a row before a few days off.

5) LG - that is how his is - it is 2 on/2 off/3 on/2 off but it still really sucks with 3 kids at home. The older two are involved in all sorts of activities and while I am used to getting them here there and everywhere. I was really looking forward to not having to be two places at the same time.

7) I really feel for you Meg. And I know what you are going through. Greg works swing shift, changing every week, and has done it for 12 years. This week he is on days and I love it. We get to eat dinner together and actually spend the whole night together. But next week he'll be on midnights. So I'll get to see him for a few hours when I get off work, before he leaves at 8:30pm. Then the next week he's on afternoons. We try to eat lunch together everyday. But then I don't get to see him until he gets home at 1am. I do my best to adjust my sleep schedule a little bit so that we can have some time together, but it's hard.
So, I completely know where you are coming from. I hope for you, and your whole family's sake, that this is just a temporary thing.

8) I know it sucks, but with so many people losing their jobs, like Spike and Matt here on HumzOo, I'm just thankful he and so many others are still working. And you can look at it this way, he's an asset and skilled enough that they trust in him to train new hires. That's a good thing. Here's hoping the new person is a quick study!

10) Agreed. It sounds like no one else can do the quality of training he can. If he is that good at training, hopefully he will be back on day shift soon and your honeymoon is back on for a LONG time! :)
